Pourquoi Lapas ?
WHY LAPAS?
In France, since the 80s, careers in arts administration in the field of live performance have thrived alongside growing public policies in favour of contemporary creation. These jobs have enjoyed increasing professionalisation and many new training courses have been introduced to meet the industry’s needs.
Over the years, a number of difficulties have come up: heavy workloads, versatility required from the various positions combined with the necessity to hyper-specialise, loneliness in relationships with artists, jobs not properly recognised by the key actors in the sector, low pay, devaluation of these duties...
In response to these observations, the association was set up in September 2013 by and in partnership with a group of professionals in the hope of bringing them together, discussing current issues and suggesting ways in which to tackle them.

Annual membership is personal and individual. Thus LAPAS wishes to highlight and promote the experience that each and every one of its members has accrued over the years.
